The challenge
SIS faces the ongoing challenge of proving the quality and credibility of its offerings to increase awareness and positive perceptions among potential clients. Customers demand compliant solutions and evidence of the supplier’s ability to meet high standards.
SIS has embraced UK sector standards, such as the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting Approved Contractor Scheme. However, the impacts of globalisation have highlighted the need for globally recognised standards.
The solution
SIS identified ISO 9001 as a starting point for global standards. ISO 9001 is a quality management system that ensures an organisation operates with defined processes meeting pre-set standards.
Adam Middleton, Managing Director of SIS, pursued ISO 9001 certification with guidance from Risk Evolves, a compliance consultancy. Despite initial delays, SIS appointed Martin Allen as compliance lead, who brought expertise in health and safety compliance. This enabled SIS to achieve ISO 9001 swiftly.

Initial Engagement and Planning

Overcoming Obstacles
Due to ongoing business pressures, Adam Middleton, SIS’s Managing Director, initially had to pause the ISO 9001 initiative. However, the appointment of Martin Allen as compliance lead proved crucial in moving the process forward.

The Outcomes
Achieving ISO 9001 boosted SIS’s confidence to pursue further certifications, leading to ISO 14001 in just six weeks. These accreditation’s have positively impacted SIS internally and externally, helping them secure projects with Leeds Airport and expand services to Frankfurt Airport.
