Governance… risk… cyber security… compliance… the words may carry associations of mastery and a certain professional mystique, but they hardly conjure visions of glamour and glitz. But then came the Leamington Business Awards…
The Risk Evolves team donned their bond black tie & ball gowns for the Leamington Business Awards dinner. Proud to be attending as nominees in the Professional Services category.
Held at the beautiful Woodland Grange, the black-tie event began with canapés, giving award nominees, their guests and other local business representatives the chance to compare finery, frills and furbelows over fizz.
The Leamington Business Competition (& Charity Give Away)
Once seated, everyone was invited to take part in a simple game of heads or tails, each round eliminating those who made the wrong choice. When only a handful of participants remained, these were invited on stage, our own CEO, Helen Barge among them.
Finally, with the prize of a 40-inch plasma TV at stake, just two people were still in it to win it: Nicola Enoch of The Ups of Downs and Helen.
In a final twist ending, Helen won by a head and Nicola left the stage with her tail between her legs, only to be recalled when Helen generously declared a spontaneous gift of the prize to the charity in support of their work to help and empower children with Down syndrome and their families. Much to the dismay of the Risk Evolves team who were banking on the TV for the office!
If you haven’t seen The Ups of Downs you really should check them out, a marvellous charity. Whilst the Risk Evolves team are secretly a tiny bit disappointed at the loss of such an amazing TV for the office, we’re extremely proud of the altruism shown by our esteemed leader.
The Leamington Business Awards… Um.. Awards
This was a great start to the evening, but the excitement wasn’t over yet: later, when the Professional Services Award category was reached, the judges report was read out, describing the winner as:
“a great innovative new business tapping into a real need for new thinking in its industry. It is rapidly building a reputation within the business sector, offering clients a voice of calm in a chaotic world.”
Yes, Risk Evolves had won, and Helen returned to the stage to collect the award.
We’d like to say thank you to all our clients and business colleagues who voted for us, as well as to the judges and the Leamington Business Awards committee. We are very proud of the comments made about Risk Evolves by the voters, which you can see over on the home page.
